A student of the Higher School of Electronics and Microsystems Engineering at the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications of SPbPU defended his final qualification work under the double-degree program “Microelectronics of Telecommunication Systems” , which is implemented by Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and Telecom Paris. Mikhail MANOKHIN presented the work "Dynamic frequency adjustment of piezoelectrically transduced MEMS sensor" and became the first student who defended this international educational program.

The scientific supervisor from the Russian side was Professor Alexander KOROTKOV of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications, and from the French side was Ph.D. G. PILLONNET. MEMS devices, the development, and research of dynamic methods of tuning the resonant frequency and quality factor of which were devoted to the final work are widely used in various fields of science and technology, so the results of the work have significant scientific and practical relevance.

The topic of the graduate work related to dynamic tuning in MEMS devices was a personal recommendation of one of the professors in France because of its relevance. I am very glad that I studied in the double-degree program, as it gives an excellent opportunity to get experience studying abroad in one of the strongest universities in Europe in the field of telecommunications. With the help of this program, I was able to work in a foreign company and to integrate into the international environment. And, of course, I am grateful to the leadership of both universities and my supervisors - Professor KOROTKOV and Dr. PILLONET for their professional and timely advice and support in writing my dissertation, said Mikhail MANOKHIN, a student of the Higher School of Electronics and Microsystems Engineering.

The defense of the graduate qualification work was held in Paris in English, and the members of the State examination commission on “Infocommunication technologies and communication systems” attended it remotely. According to the results of the joint meeting of the examination commissions, the work was rated as “excellent”, and Mikhail MANOKHIN was awarded a Master’s degree.

Representatives of both educational institutions participating in the joint program, commenting on the defense, noted the high quality and a large amount of research carried out and expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation.

If possible, I highly recommend not to miss such a chance and take a double degree program, shared Mikhail MANOKHIN.
